Daytime Skincare 101

I've had quite a few questions lately about my skincare routine so I thought it might be time to do a post on it. I'll just cover daytime for now, but at some point I will post about my evening routine so stay tuned on that. Admittedly, I'm a bit obsessive about anti-aging, especially at night, but I figure that will all pay off one of these days!

St. Ives Apricot Scrub: It's old school, but I love it. It's a great exfoliating scrub, but a little harsh to use twice a day, so I typically use it at night and then use something a little gentler in the morning, such as Cetaphil.

Olay Regenerist Intensive Repair Treatment: I use this under my lotion. It supposedly corrects a myriad of sins from fine lines to dry skin, but regardless of whether or not those claims are true, it's another layer of moisture - and keeping skin moisturized is key!

Loreal Revitalift Complete Eye Cream: The skin around the eye is thinner than the skin on the rest of the face so using an eye cream is essential. I haven't yet found an eye cream that I love, but this is the one I'm currently using.

Aquaphor: Whenever I have a dry patch here or there, I just dab a bit of this on it and it clears the patch up in no time.

Cetaphil Moisturizing Lotion: I like to stick to an extremely gentle skin lotion and Cetaphil does the trick.  It's a no frills lotion that's been around for years and that I'll probably keep using for years.

Loreal Miracle Blur Primer: This primer creates a smooth canvas for putting on BB cream. I didn't start using a primer until last year, but now I've found that when I try to put a BB cream on without it, I feel like I'm tugging at my skin trying to rub the BB cream in rather than just having it glide on. I'm absolutely a primer covert.

Dr. Jart's Detox BB Cream: I discovered this through my Birchbox subscription and I've posted about it before. This is literally my favorite thing I've ever found in a Birchbox. It provides light coverage, SPF, and makes my skin feel silky smooth. Plus, it has anti-aging properties! It's definitely on the pricey side, but I bought a tube back in May, I use it every day, and it's still about half full.

So, there you have it. My slightly lengthy skincare routine in order of product application. Though it may seem like a lot of steps, I definitely think it's worth it to keep my skin looking refreshed and healthy. Oh, and don't forget to drink lots of water and green tea!
